In our 60 years anniversary contest we were looking for the oldest running BERTHOLD system which is still in operation. The winner of this contest is Mr. Mauro Radici from the company Stefana S.p.A. from Ospitaletto, Italy.
Since the start-up in 1975, the measuring system LB3118 has been used for monitoring the mould level in continuous casting. In spite of the extreme measuring conditions, the system has continued working trouble-free and without any problems for over  30 years now.

Like in the years before, the ACHEMA 2009 was of great success for BERTHOLD – Process Control. The new detector generation SENSseries, which was showcased at the ACHEMA for the first time, met with great interest amongst the visitors. Due to the outstanding sensitivity of the SENS-detectors, the source activities can be minimized to an unequalled level. Furthermore, the extremely high longtime stability fascinated the visitors of the ACHEMA.
