Radio nuclides are widely used in many fields of research, nuclear medicine, bioanalytic and in life science. Wherever open radioactive materials are used, radiation protection regulations require contamination measurements for hands, foots and clothing of employees. The following characteristics could further improve safety in radio nuclide laboratories:
- Newly developed large area proportional
counters provide sensitive detection of radiation within short measuring periods with extreme reliability
- Data acquisition and analysis is controlled by
an internal personal computer which enables ease of operation and maintenance
- Menus and results are in simple and clear
arrangements displayed on a large colored LCD screen
- Data transfer and networking via RS 485 or
Ethernet
- Continuous measurement of the background
guarantees reliable results even in the presence of enhanced background radiation levels
- optional barcode or magnetic card reader
Two versions allow optimum measurement of beta-gamma and alpha-beta emitters
The new personal contamination monitors are available as beta-gamma version LB 145 with Xenon-filled proportional detectors, and as alpha-beta version LB 146 with gas-flow detectors.
The high counting efficiency of the completely re-designed Xenon probes for low-energy gammas and X-rays makes the LB 145 particularly suitable for use in Nuclear Medicine. The LB 146 assesses simultaneously alpha and beta contamination. An electronically controlled gas flow valve gear helps minimising gas consumption.
