The Berthold Technologies / UMAD MEVIS software package permits to collect, visualise and archive the measurements made by all types of Berthold Technologies monitors and electronics . Other features include alarming functions, automatic status report generation and remote diagnosis making it an ideal tool for the radiation protection network manager to accomplish his task.

The software allows to look at the radiological data in different ways such as time graphs with different scales and zoom function, bar graph presentation, tabular forms, correlation graphs from different counting channels and/or monitors.

Independent from the monitor alarms can be set and shown on the graphs making it easy for the operator to interpret and evaluate an incident or anomaly.

Depending on the network topology the software can be configured for both LAN and WAN types of network. In both cases the polling interval from the Central station to the monitors in the network can be set over a wide range from minutes to days.

For LAN applications the network can be operated in a star or ring topology using RS232C/RS422/RS485 communication.

For WAN networks, which typically are operated using the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and modems, the software will also accept incoming early warning calls from the outstations.

All the data from the monitors is stored into a propriety data-base in which the data is archived in Yearly and Monthly subfolders. All the data in the data-base can easily be recalled by means of a query screen to select the information channel and the time period. A built in export function permits to export the data to all common commercial data-base types, for instance to do dispersion modelling on another platform. The data can also be exported to an MS-Word template allowing the user to automatically generate daily, weekly, monthly network status reports in printed form.

Other available modules allow to expand the functionality from stand alone Central station to redundant PC (tandem operation) or to an hierarchical structure (regional-national). Further options are hardware alarming through relays, clock synchronisation through radio-atomic clock, transmission of alarms through pager or cellular phone message system, preparation of data for Internet publication.

The software code is written in 32-bit code and can be run on a PC platform with allcurrent Microsoft operating systems including Win2000 / WinXP.

The software is currently available in 3 Language versions: English, German and Spanish.
